Introducing The Rex!!

This weekend me and Ben went back to Luton. We were invited to The Rex cinema in Berkhamstead by our buddies, Andrew, Rachael, Neil and Sarah. They had all been to this wonderful cinema and wanted us to experience it's delights.

As you can see from the pics it's pretty spectacular. We watched The Orphanage (spanish horror film) and although we had seen it once before it was well worth a second viewing in these wonderful surroundings.

No go for Texprint!!

I recieved the news today that I had not been picked to be part of Texprint!! Oh well, nothing ventured and all that. So now I can forget about exhibiting and carry on with the design work.

It seem's to be going ok and I'm enjoying it, although some actually money in the bank would be a bonus, still all good things come to the those .......

I've been using my Princess Pleater, (a pleating machine for fabric). I first used one when I went to do a placement with the truly wonderful designer Karen Nicol. I must admit I'm liking it's pleating abilities!!

Stitching, sewing!

I've made a start. It seems like a lifetime ago since I've been creative and I guess I miss it.
I'm feeling a little rusty but I've no doubt that it'll get easier the more I do. It's just how these things go.

Time to start creating!

Now that I've a bit of time, I'm going to start working. The new brief is based around florals, mainly roses and with soft, forest inspired colours. So i''m ready to get stuck in.

I'm back already!!

I was in London yesterday for New Designers. I left early and got back late. I find these type of events a little overwhelming. The amount of work there is astonishing and obviously there's lots of work that's amazing, which at times can make you think, why am I bothering!!

Well I suppose the reason you bother is there are times when you get to meet some really lovely people and get some face to face feedback.

Just as I was leaving last night a gentleman was looking at my work, I went over and it was the director of Hand & Lock. He was very complimentary and has said that he'll get me in to the studios for a few days so that I can be shown how to tambour bead!! This is a form of beading that once good at can make the process very quick, which means you can cover more ground and begin to do more elaborate things. So all in all it wasn't a bad day.

The image above is a piece of work I entered into the Hand & lock competition last year.
