Blast from the past!

Today I got to see some images from an old friends Ready To Wear Collection for 2010! The friend is Ben Copperwheat who I have known since I was 18, that is exactly half my life!
He unfortunately could not make it to my wedding in July, but had good reason as he was working on this.
I'm extremely excited for him and wish him all the success that he totally deserves.
Take a look at this too.

Thursday

I'm off out later for a friends birthday. I gather she likes Pug-zu's! For the occasion I have made her a cushion with a Pug-zu on it.
With the left over sketch I created another pattern.

Today

Today I am doing paperwork for the Women's Mental Health Group that I am running. The amount of forms, schemes of work, session plans, risk assessments sheets (trust me the list goes on!) is endless. It is definitely a learning curve, but one that I will attempt to do to the best of my abilities. I can see why it is all in place, but I can also see how it would put some people, who are capable of making a difference, off!

Other than that I will be making a present and I will be doing more of these.

Tuesday brings....

As well as going to a training day I have also done this. I'm rather enjoying these geometric patterns. Think I would like some curtains or dress fabric made from it. We shall see!
Think I will make it an aim to do one a day for this week. I'm trying to build up a collection of ideas and designs. Ben and I are hoping to start something together and these might well be the beginnings.

Monday: What has occured?

Today I was at the Women's Group continuing with the embroidery workshops. All the women seem to be enjoying it and the bonus is that from today they are no longer voluntary and I'm getting paid!! I could do with the cash so that's brill.
After, i came home to find my lovely husband busy at work. As of next week he will be properly freelance, so fingers crossed the work will keep coming his way. We're used to being skint so it should be a problem!

I sat down with some yellow and black paper and came up with a motif, which I then translated into a yet another repeat. I was sort of aiming for an art deco feel crossed with Thameslink upholstery! I want to get good at this so I will persist.
Here it is.

Leopard print.

I know these repeats are all a little naive but I'm quite enjoying doing them and it's all good practice. This is from a drawing I did a while ago, the leopard brooche belonged to my sadly missed nan.

And repeat!

Here's another repeat that I started today. It's not completed, but I seem to be getting the hang of it more.

things i have learnt today

Today has been a day of learning new things. Firstly I learnt to crochet in a circle as well as making a flower, not that exciting I know but it's something new!
For sometime now repeat pattern has always baffled me, until today that is. I found an interesting link that showed an easy way to do it.
granted it's not the best repeat in the world, but it's a start and I shall be experimenting with it from now on.
