Dogs, dogs, dogs!

I have so many photo's of ornaments I've collected, things I've seen and loved, that it's time to start using them!
This is a group of mutts I saw at the Victoria Art Gallery in Bath.
So many china and porcelain dogs in one cabinet.
A complete joy.

Best In Show - Olympic inspired

Quick doodle inspired by the Olympics, vaguely!
Love using electrical tape to create pattern.
Such a nice thing to handle and stick down.

A day of sorting, rearranging.
Which has made me make decisions for future work/prints.
Thanks to certain folk too for being ace : )

Building ideas and playing!

Well using paints is something that seems a bit alien these days.
So used to pen and ink/collage.
But along the same lines as my floral doodles, I decided to get out the acrylics!
It's a bit of an assault to the eyes,  but I'm liking the marks and the difference a brush to create similar images.

I'm a bit like a child that has been given some neon paints to use, but just can't resist.
So ideas for pattern making and new work begins x

Been listening to far too much Radiohead, but they are so good.

Spots, Cats and Commissions.

An inspiring weekend, full of talking, relaxing and appreciating simple things.
A trip to Ikea sparking off ideas for new work (believe it or not!)
Eating sandwiches in the car whilst it tips it down and watching football (believe it or not, to the football part!)
Sunday afternoon tapas, and canvas's making me want to paint.

But, this morning has consisted of commissions and cat drawing!
Now off to buy some art supplies
: )

Oh and listening this in the car adding to the above list. Old school!!

Thursdays doodle.

Just a quick sketch.
Did plenty more today.
Sadly the sun is not shining here in Bath, so the photo's weren't too hot!
Maybe tomorrow the sun will shine : )

Thinking of doing a range of cards and prints, floral and pattern based.
Still love the dogs of course, but flowers are lovely to draw too.

This made my run this morning even brighter.

Opposite Ends!

I'm very happy to announce that my greetings cards are being stocked in 2 new places.
Miles apart from one another!!

The first place is Souvenir Gallery in Highgate. A lovely space which showcases British-based artists and designers!
These went on sale at the beginning of the week, if you're nearby pop down.

The second place is Buy Olympia in Portland, Oregon!!
They have an online shop and also a Land shop.
"We started back in 1999 in Olympia, Washington as a way to help our friends sell their awesome handmade items online, and have since grown to have a lot more friends from all over the world."

Sun Bathing Spanish Cats!

I had the pleasure of drawing these two lovelies the other week.
I cannot divulge names as they are for a gift! ( I have been given permission to post : ) Promise )
Let's hope they go down a treat for the receiver.
More felines/canines basking in summer sun commissions please.
Most enjoyable to do.

More Brightness - From Me and Sweet Paul!

More felt tip pen florals.
Nice times recently had inspiring colourful, hopeful and non precious drawings.
Sometimes when you think too much you just don't do what you could.

Also just had a sneak peak at the Spring addition of Sweet Paul Magazine via Bright Bizarre.
Inspiring colours and beautifully photographed work.
I took the opportunity of advertising in this addition, which from it's release tomorrow will be available in print too at all Anthropologie strores across the States.

Come on Spring!!! - Inspired by Hockney

So yesterday I went to see David Hockney's "A Bigger Picture" at The Royal Academy.
After watching The Culture Show's programme about the exhibition and on hearing Hockney talk about the work, I was truly inspired!
It made me realise how much I love colour and pattern, and made me want to get back in touch with a side that has been in the background for a while.
Not forgotten about, just put away for a bit.

So armed with a cheap set of felt tip pens, some paper and a camera I've began doodling!
Very enjoyable too.
Trying to invite Spring into my week, although grey, cloudy and wet outside!
But so much to be happy about.
