Abstract Floral Garden

A new painting using floral gardens as inspiration on top of abstract patterns.
Colour, pattern and flowers . Always a favourite to experiment with.

Dogs And Matisse!

Hello there,

I was meant to post this last week, but the time has flown and here I am 5 days later!
Last weekend I went to see Matisse Cut-Outs at Tate Modern.
What a total joy, it was.
Ever since my collage days I have been a huge admirer of his work.
Colour, pattern, the subject matters, what's not to love.

To see these pieces in the flesh, the scissor marks and drawing pin holes that go into making them was utterly fabulous.
The scale of some works were huge and lost none of the appeal.

If you can, go. It won't disappoint.

More Painting *unfinished*

Hello.
Hope you all have had a fab weekend.
Went to the opening of the Holborne Museum on Friday.
Much fun and drinks, as well as seeing the legend, Peter Blake.
Saturday, nursing a sore head and meet up with buddies.
Today, 7am run, commission started and nearly finished and now updating the blog.
Next, maybe back into bed with a book.
Lovely.
Here's a painting I have started, yet to finish.

How ya like me now?

I've been doing a bit of painting the last few days.
Not sure what I'm doing but enjoying the process and results.
Doing a bit of floral painting too, it's been a while since I've done that!
Loving the colours.
Have a good one. x

Change is as good as a rest.

So this is the quick painting I did the other day.
Nice to use another medium but also for another subject matter.
Made me look at all the kitsch objects I own too and how I have neglected them as inspiration for a while!
So here is the painting.

Inspired by....

The other day on the way back from the car boot I had the pleasure of meeting a beautiful feline.
I acted like a mad cat woman for a bit, and thoroughly enjoyed the attention he/she was giving me.
Such a fabulous thing.
It inspired me to come home and draw a cat.
This later led on to doing a painting.
That will follow.

Looking to the skies for......

Here is the other painting/sketch from this morning.
Nice to be making work for myself for a bit.

Tuesdays Offerings!

So I had 2 painitng commissions to do last week.
Painting is not something that comes completely natural to me, but it's always good to push yourself.
Think I enjoy using paint to creat backgrounds and pattern.
So here are my offerings from last night and today!

Getting on, doing stuff.

Today has been slow, but I've eventually got there!
Bit of tidying, painting, listening to Adam and Joe.
Where I was reminded of this New Order song, Regret.
Forgotten how much I used to love it.
Always slightly melancholy, but always beautiful!

Feeling a little worn out, but I can't be.
Gotta be on top form for all the teaching I'm about to embark on tomorrow.
Hope you have had a lovely weekend with lots of relaxing and nice times.

Painting after so many years.

Well today I thought I'd dig out my paints.
They haven't seen light of day for so long.
I was surprised to find them not completely dried up.
Below is the results.
I've tried to not be precious.
Quite liked it, nice to use a coloured ground for a change.

Who doesn't love Alan Bennett?!
Her Big Chance Part 1 - starring Julie Walters.
More drama! Bonnie Tyler - Total Eclipse Of The Heart.
Some bad acting - Cyndi Lauper - Time After Time.
