Today was the launch of theMost Expensive Dog Holiday!! (Prepare yourself, it is COMPLETELY BONKERS) Jenny Hytner - Marriott is the owner of Paw Seasons dog hotel, in Long Ashton, Bristol, which is where the pampered pooch will be residing. I met Jenny over 3 years ago, after my exhibition 'Best In Show'. I was being cheeky and posted a business card under the windscreen of her Paw Seasons car. A lovely surprise to me, was an e-mail from Jenny saying how much she liked my work and would I like to visit her and the pooches. How could I resist. Paw Seasons is really wonderful, and I have never seen such content canines. So from then on we have kept in touch, and I have even had the joy of capturing Coco, her chow chow in a Queens Jubileestyle. Jenny asked me if I would like to get involved in the above by creating a portrait of the canine in question, and when I heard about where the money raised from her involvement would go, I was delighted to get involved. Jenny explained: "between Tim (my partner) and me, we've lost 3 spouses to cancer. We've been thinking of a way to do some significant fund-raising, and when we were approached by VeryFirstTo to do this, it seemed like the perfect opportunity" I have also lost two grandparents and my father to cancer, so to be able to donate any money my portrait might raise to help this cause is fabulous. As well as Cancer Research, the money will also be split with Battersea Dogs Home.
Yesterday I wanted to draw but my mind could not think, so I asked for the help of the lovely folk that like my Facebook page.
Lots of great ideas were suggested - A westie in a plaid vest, Dalmation in multicoloured neon tennis shoes, a shih tzu on a leopard print rug were just a few.
I picked which one I would draw at random and out came a cocker spaniel in a cravat.
So here he is. Meet Reginald.
I had a fabulous birthday weekend in London.
Lunch at Dinner and then a trip to the Royal Albert Hall for some classical music.
A meet up with some friends and the sun came out (intermittently)
2013, the year I went fancy. Thanks Mr. B x x
So it made sense for the last few days to focus on some classy canines.
This is Dottie, the rottweiler of refined taste : )
Totally thrilled to have been pinned by Oh Joy! onto her 'Domaine Virtual Show House' board, and also another print on her 'Studio Inspiration'. Both pins are of florals, Floral Doodle - with Yellow Stripes and Blooming Wednesday below. Due to enquiries about this illustration, as of next week it will be a print : D x I had planned to, this just gave me the nudge I needed. Another lovely surprise was a feature of my Florals on A Lovely Lark, thank you Lauren : ) Cheers to all that are popping by here and my shop. And thank you also to Joy, you gave me a boost when I first started out, and it was fabulous for me. Have a lovely day. x x x
This is Jesse, I was inspired to draw the little fella after I read about his story via the fabulous Robyn Arouty Photography. Robyn witnessed Jesse being run over, and herself and a few other wonderful people got him to the vets and are helping get him back to health. What was thought as touch and go at first, has turned around, and tails are now wagging. Lovely news for the weekend x x x Stay tuned for more updates and some other news ; ) x Oh and that rather fabulous collar Jesse is wearing is by the rather fantastic Addison Logan x
