Christmas Gifts And Wallpaper Samples

Where did that holiday go?
Hope you had a lovely Christmas. I have been away in paris (lucky me) and then back visiting family and friends in my hometown, also very nice.

Over the holiday period I received the below gifts, and also my Spoonflower wallpaper samples arrived. Thrilled with all.
Super kitsch Bosson plaster dog heads, cat brooch from Bels Art World, geometric brooch from Modern Art Oxford and obligatory ceramic dog! Thank you all.

Hope you received some thoughtful gifts too, but more than anything that you spent time relaxing and enjoying the company of some nice people. x x x

Vintage Dolls And Canine Couples

Morning!
Well, it has to be said, I'm thoroughly enjoying drawing dolls and canine couples.
I'm going to keep going with this.
Although I've just been given the new assignment for the Bootcamp course, and editorial spread.

Can't wait to get started.
In the meantime here's some watercolours I've been creating of late.

A Poodle And A Gift Of Flowers For Tuesday

Hello!

Yesterday had a few unexpected surprises, which made Monday a good day.
A feature on my new floral doodles and embroideries over at Print & Pattern kicked things off.
It's always nice to get some good press, especially from a blog that you follow and look at regularly.
Thanks Marie : )

So to celebrate here's a poodle bearing the gift of flowers. x x x

Monday Morning/afternoon Sketch

I've had a lovely relaxing weekend.
Much needed, but now on to lots of commissions.

To get me in the swing for the week a sketch is required.
Kitsch ornaments are always a favourite.
I have plenty! So these shelf friends are here to wish you a fabulous week.

Watched Grayson Perry's 'In The Best Possible Taste' again at the weekend.
So inspiring.
As well as that I had the joy of seeing Jenny Saville's exhibition at Modern Art Oxford.
Was so impressed by the size of the brushmarks and scale.
Go see if you can.

Kitsch Cat and tributes : )

I've just added more prints to my Etsy Shop!
This time more felines and florals are present.
I've always been a fan of everything kitsch, so what better than some bright florals and grinning cats!

My love for bright, sometimes tacky, objects and imagery stemmed from my late Nan.
Her house was filled with glittery, often dusty, kitsch ornaments, which as a child I was fascinated by.. still am I guess.

So I can't think of anything more fitting than a series of prints in tribute to her colourful collections and personality.
: )

Nothing better to work a long to than Kraftwerk too.
Have a fabulous day x

Dogs, dogs, dogs!

I have so many photo's of ornaments I've collected, things I've seen and loved, that it's time to start using them!
This is a group of mutts I saw at the Victoria Art Gallery in Bath.
So many china and porcelain dogs in one cabinet.
A complete joy.

So here's a drawing of some of the lovely beast you can see there.

This morning these have added my drawing!
Under Your Spell - Desire from the utterly fabulous Drive soundtrack.
The men with a vision of what they want - Empire Of The Sun
MGMT
The Field
And more Drive Soundtrack : )

Change is as good as a rest.

So this is the quick painting I did the other day.
Nice to use another medium but also for another subject matter.
Made me look at all the kitsch objects I own too and how I have neglected them as inspiration for a while!
So here is the painting.
