Nothing more than a patterned pooch.
Just because I felt like it : )
Hope you are having a fabulous week.
Thursday proved to be inspirational and exciting.

Flowers + Duck Vase + Ceramic Dog = Monday Morning Sketch
This ceramic dog is hiding out.
He headed down to the vintage vase, to watch the ducks and contemplate life!
We all need some down time every now and then hey?
It's good to take stock, and take some time for yourself.
( I have this weekend, but now to it : )
Have a lovely one. x x x

A Classy Canine
Recently I was contacted by a lady with a request for not 1 but 5 portraits.
I was obviously delighted to take them on.
It was a little bit different from my normal canine or feline commission, as it required me to illustrate some horses. They were a total delight to do, and have now been received and the customer is also delighted with them.
Along with the horses I got to draw Bess, twice.
This is her in Jubilee style. A true classy canine.
Have a fabulous weekend, and I'll see you on the other side : D x x x

A Good Mix Of Things
Yesterday was a productive day.
When I stop and think about what I am doing I do feel very fortunate.
My jobs consisted of doing an illustration of an academic who's research area actually hurts my head to think about.
Next a commission of a Jubilee style portrait of a classy canine wearing "a tiara, like Kate Middletons".
And I even got a bit of time to draw this lady below.
Always a lover of things that have a hint of the 80's, I think the grey lines add enough of that to her portrait.
Oh and I listened to a lot of Prince!

Feeling A Bit Like Spring!
Hello,
It was so nice to feel the suns rays at the weekend. Very welcome indeed.
A trip to Bristol meant a glorious walk around the city and a trip to the RWA to see the Reigning Cats and Dogs show.
If you get a chance, pop along, there's some super size cats that are well worth a look.
And on Sunday a walk round Bath. Popping in to a few galleries along the way and taking a peek at a favourite cabinet of dog ornaments in the Victoria Gallery.
So here's to plenty more of that and the return of nicer weather.
Bess below agrees totally ; D x x

It's All In The Eyes! - Valentines Day Bulldog
Happy Valentines Day All.
Have a fantastic day, whatever or whomever you share it with. Loved ones, relatives, friends, it really doesn't matter.
I'm just taking stock of the important things, oh and working : ) x

It's always nice to feel appreciated and loved. That of course comes in many shapes and forms.
Sometimes it's those little things that mean the most.
Grand gestures are fantastic, don't get me wrong, but I am a lady who is easily pleased.
I've had a wonderful 20 months discovering places and experiences with someone that I wasn't expecting to meet. I feel very fortunate to be able to embrace these times and enjoy the smallest of occasions which have all been memorable for what ever reason.
Here's to present and future adventures and good times. Cheers Mr B.

Love (maybe) In The Air!
Hello, hope you've had a grand week.
All good this way, lots of nice work discussions being had which is always a boost for the ego.
But back to these guys, someone's playing hard to get here.
I'm pretty sure though that it won't last for long though, who could resist those blue eyes ; )
Love is in the air for sure X X X

Poodle Doodle 2 = A Love For Oddities. x
Hello there,
I've been thinking about why I've always ( as stated in previous posts ) had an obsession with ceramic animals, kitsch ornaments and oddities.
I am a sucker for a broken ornament, or anything that might look a bit weird and not quite right.
Drawing these ceramic finds is something I keep going back to. I think the attraction is the character that is already present on their faces, stances and often scenarios that they are in.
This and my love for vintage scarves and pattern never fails to provide me inspiration.
I'm fully aware where this comes from, my wonderful Nan, who sadly is no longer with us, but has left me with a passion for things that has sculpted my creativity and enriched me greatly.
Her home was a treasure trove of objects, broken at times and rather dusty, but always bright, silly and full of character. This combined with clashing patterns and textures has led to my appreciation of things that do not tale themselves to seriously.
Thanks Nanna Alice. You were a ray of sunshine x x

Canine Couples = Dog Milk - The Scratchbook
Recently I was asked to take part in Dog Milks, The Scratchbook feature, which of course I was delighted to except. As it was February, the obvious theme was Valentines Day.
I've always had a bit of an obsession in imagining some of my ornaments having relationships! That broken china poodle having a fling with the fair maiden, the ceramic bird chatting up kitsch cat. I could go on : )
So it really wasn't hard for me to imaging the canine friends of Capree, (the managing editor of Dog Milk ) having relationships with other pooches. The following stories then generated.
Smash and Coco Bean ( Chic Sprinkles ) announcing their internet love affair, and Wrigley confessing his love for Dee ( Deisel and Juice ).
Cheers to Capree and Dog Milk for being such good fun to work with, and for all canines involved for being such great models x x x

The Bath Priory + Ceramic Flower + Ceramic Dog = A good weekend
Hello,
Hope you had a glorious weekend.
I went for my first ever Michelin Star meal on Saturday lunchtime.
The Bath Priory was the venue and it was super good.
From delightful surroundings, to good wine, the best hot bread I've had in a looong time, delicious desserts ( that's right 2, well one was the petit fours, but trust me, it was a second dessert ) and exceptional company.
Overall a total winner. If you can go, and fancy a treat, then do. You won't be disappointed.
As well as the above it I managed to do a bit of drawing. Here's some of my shelf decorations.
Not quite as fancy as the Priory's decor, but it suits me fine : D x
