Dolled Up Dogs - New Greeting Card Collection

Dolled Up Dogs, with pink cheeks, eyeshadow and of course some patterned accessories.

My love of canines and pattern has continued with these new illustrations.
What started off as a few sketches, evolved into a new collection of greeting cards.

The list of canines so far are - pug, dachshund, bulldog, american bulldog, bull terrier, shiba, fox terrier, maltese, japanese chin and standard poodle.
All pooches will either have eyeshadow, blushed cheeks or a fancy neck piece, perhaps all three in some cases. Completely Dolled Up!

There will be more breeds being added to the list very soon.
Any requests will be happily taken, and of course if you fancy a Custom Portrait of your pooch drop me an e-mail at info@studio-legohead.com

Hope you received some thoughtful gifts too, but more than anything that you spent time relaxing and enjoying the company of some nice people. x x x

Dogs And Matisse!

Hello there,

I was meant to post this last week, but the time has flown and here I am 5 days later!
Last weekend I went to see Matisse Cut-Outs at Tate Modern.
What a total joy, it was.
Ever since my collage days I have been a huge admirer of his work.
Colour, pattern, the subject matters, what's not to love.

To see these pieces in the flesh, the scissor marks and drawing pin holes that go into making them was utterly fabulous.
The scale of some works were huge and lost none of the appeal.

If you can, go. It won't disappoint.

Mutts & Hounds Collaboration

I'm so thrilled to be able to announce my recent collaboration with Mutts & Hounds.

For those of you that aren't aware of M&H (where have you been ; ), they are a British company who make "stylish and quintessentially English products for hound and home".

Founded in 2011 by Laura Gough, the company and range of products has grown and received much attention and recognition. As well as the products being available in a number of boutiques up and down the country they can also be found in Harrods of Knightsbridge, Selfridges and John Lewis.

Needless to say I was totally thrilled when approached by Laura to design the repeat.

The print contains some of Mutts & Hounds favourite breeds, which include - a Bulldog, French Bulldog, Labrador, Fox Terrier, Beagle and a Border Terrier. The design in available in two colours and on a variety of products that include, donut dog bed, cushionstea towels and tote bags to name a few.

As well as the fabric, I was also commissioned to produce two canine portraits that would be used as hangers for Mutts & Hounds new scarf range that will be on sale 1st August.

Pop over and take a peek at the new range as well as all the other stylish products for canines and humans.

Vintage Dolls And Canine Couples

Morning!
Well, it has to be said, I'm thoroughly enjoying drawing dolls and canine couples.
I'm going to keep going with this.
Although I've just been given the new assignment for the Bootcamp course, and editorial spread.

Can't wait to get started.
In the meantime here's some watercolours I've been creating of late.

A Mix of Gorgeous Grumps - Repeat Pattern With Canines

Hello!

I'm back from fantastic Berlin ( I'll post some pictures later).
I had a fabulous time, but I'm also happy to be back working.

I've been meaning to create more repeat patters, especially canine related.
This one is a mixed breed repeat, featuring bull terriers, boxer dogs, and bulldogs.
Some of my favourite grumpy faces to draw.
More to follow.

Have a super Tuesday x x x

A Japanese Chin For Friday!

As you probably know, I love a grumpy face to draw.
Along with Bulldogs, Boxers and Pugs, the Japanese Chin is up there with the features I can't resist capturing.
Here's one enjoying some pastel shades and florals.

Have a fabulous Friday. x x x

Soon To Repeat

Hello
After a lovely response on Facebook to my Bulldog Pattern, I'm going to get started very soon on producing more.
I've always been interested in pattern due to my background in textile design, so I'd be a fool not to turn these into working repeats.
So watch this space. x x x

Canine Cavalry And A Bulldog Repeat x

Hello, it's been a while.
I'm now in my new home in Oxford, Bath is not forgotten though x
It's so nice to have room and a garden and I never thought I'd be so happy to have stairs to walk up!
Already I have completed a commission in my new workroom, which I'm thrilled to have.

As well as the commission I managed to have a play with a bulldog from a previous piece.
Canine Cavalry was meant for another project but due to the move I had to abandon it.
And from that this bulldog repeat x x x

You Can't Beat A Grumpy Face

No matter what happens, I always come back to a grumpy face.
It's what drew me to drawing canines.
I love to imagine what they are thinking.

This is Alice, she needs no fuss.
She's pretty fantastic as she is.

New York Bound

Not me, sadly.
A couple of prints, Pug and Pooch In Pucci!
And 2 embroideries, Dwight and Boris.
All showing at Mascot Studios 13th Annual Dog Show.
If only I was delivering them by hand.
Instead I am waiting in for Parcel Force to arrive.
No where near as fun!

But in this waiting period I have been collaging!
Always a pleasure.

So if you're in New York head along to the chow which starts on the 14th Feb.
Take a loved one along and buy them some original art.
After all it will be Valentines Day!

Nathan Fake has been aiding the drawing.

Thanks for the eye candy!

Right, so last night I felt a desire to draw before bed.
Too much prep work and non-fun things meant no time for what I love to do.
The other day I came across Sarah Beth's fabulous work.
I got in touch to say hi and funnily enough she used to live near Bath and Bristol in South Dakota!

Anyway enough of my rubbish anecdotes!
I hope she wont mind, but I used one of her photo's to do my part blind drawing last night.

Loosening up!

So tonight I set myself a task, quick drawings.
Some blind drawings, where I did not look at the page at all, others a bit of looking and not looking.
These are the results.
(colour added after drawing has been completed!)
It's nice not to be precious and see what happens.
I need to do more of this, with my drawing and just life in general.
I will start as of now.
