I'm off to New York, and I must say I'm very happy about it.
The last, and first time I was there was around 6-7 years ago, and I had a wonderful time.
I found the city to be vibrant, enthusiastic and with a ton of things to see.
I've never looked up so much!
I'm off there for several reason/excuses!
Firstly I'm going to Surtex, not to show, but to help out some lovely ladies on their stand, Cloverly is the collective, and they are all super talented.
Secondly, I'm going to walk the show, see what it's all about.
Thirdly, I'll be seeing and staying with my wonderful and dear friend Ben Copperwheat.
Fourthly, I'll be meeting up with lots of other lovely people that I know, that either live there or are going to be visiting because of the show too!
And finally, I'll be seeing the city, looking at art, enjoying the surroundings and being joined by the other half, Mr Steve, at the end. We've always said we wanted to see it together, so now seems like the best time.
Can't wait. I'll be posting photos. Promise!
See you soon x x x
I'll leave you with Piko in New York x

Working With Waggo
I recently had the utter delight of being asked to produce some greeting cards for Waggo.
Waggo are a Brooklyn based company founded by Regine Raab, who previously worked at several fashion houses. This is very obvious by the great style that Waggo has on all it's products.
"As an avid shopper for her dog, Benny, she realized there were some things missing from her favorite pet stores. Surrounded by generic merchandise and boilerplate bone and paw print designs, she thought there must be a better way. She decided to develop products that provide style and comfort for her and her dog."
I can happily say they were a joy to work with, and are thrilled with the outcome.
Having spent 5 weeks in Brooklyn a few years back, I'd love to return, enjoy New York again and meet some people that I've had the pleasure to work with.
Maybe next year!!

New York Bound
Not me, sadly.
A couple of prints, Pug and Pooch In Pucci!
And 2 embroideries, Dwight and Boris.
All showing at Mascot Studios 13th Annual Dog Show.
If only I was delivering them by hand.
Instead I am waiting in for Parcel Force to arrive.
No where near as fun!
But in this waiting period I have been collaging!
Always a pleasure.
So if you're in New York head along to the chow which starts on the 14th Feb.
Take a loved one along and buy them some original art.
After all it will be Valentines Day!
Nathan Fake has been aiding the drawing.

Mascot Studio's 13th Annual Dog Show!
So it looks like I will have some work showing at Mascot Studio's 13th Annual Dog Show.
How lovely.
Anne Watkins, another artist featured in Martha Stewarts Holiday Gift Guide gave me the heads up to contact Peter the owner of Mascot Studios and after a few e-mails it looks like I will be part of the show!
Very excited, just wish I could head back to New York, I love New York.
Maybe later in the year.
It looks like there may be a few embroidery's being shown.
Possibilities below : )
Thanks Martha, thanks Anne, thanks Peter.

"Light Relief"
More cats and New York inspired collage.
Lovely Claire came round today.
We talked about my work and where it all comes from.
Turns out it's always been a "light relief".
Which is all good, and pleased for the chat.
Thanks you, for spending the time x x

More NY inspired collages.
So. since yesterday I've done about 15 collages.
I'm so enjoying. Even made myself a loom!!!!
Not sure how that will turn out, but I'm gonna give it a shot.
So here's some more.
Some recognisably buildings, windows etc, others more abstract.
Williamsburg bridge is in there.
Honestly, they have all come form my photo's.
I wouldn't lie.

Inspired by The Big Apple
What an enjoyable morning.
Coming up with ideas for pattern based textiles or prints or both.
Who knows, but I've been enjoying it immensely.
Electrical tape, masking tape and felt pens are my tools today!
So nice to be playing.

Productive? Yes, in between distractions.
One commission down, and on the back of a scan sent to the customer I now have another!
It is a fact that all my customers are totally lovely, what a nice way to earn a living.
So in between doing paid work I'm distracting myself with Broadcast and drawing more dogs!!
Tomorrow my wonderful friend Ben Copperwheat arrives in Bath.
I had the pleasure ( he had the patience) of staying with him in New York for 5 weeks back in September and what a fabulous time I had.
And to add to the bonus of that, it's my birthday.
A nice week ahead, with the Bath Spa Uni degree show on Friday and ending it by celebrating Mr Hamiltons birhtday also.

Oh, one more thing!
After much deliberation it's now official.
In 3 weeks time I head off to New York for,
yep, 5 and a half weeks!!!!!
Primarily to help out Mr Copperwheat, who will be showing at New york Fashion week.
It will be his 3rd show.
The Copperwheat collection is just getting better and better.
I'm delighted for him and Lee and in awe of their hard work and dedication!
What an opportunity to see behind the scenes.
A trip of a life time.
A big shout going out to Mr Hamilton-Chambers for not minding that I'm off for such a long time.
Cheers Mr.
You know all the rest so I won't say anymore.
I leave on the 7th September, so I might have a few drinks with people before I head off.
This actually scares me a little!
