Pug in Pilotto - LFW

Been trying to catch up with London Fashion Week.
One designer who's colour palette caught my eye was that of Peter Pilotto.
This look in particular.
As a continuation from my Pug In Pucci illustration I thought I'd do one in Pilotto!

Monday Good Morning!

It's been a busy summer so far this way.
Lots of commissions, nice features and a few things I've gotta sit on for a while.
In the meantime though here's a few places that have thought it a good idea to show off some of my work : )

Firstly Morning Edit, ran by the lovely Angie and Katy, which in their own words is an "inspiring online ‘home’ for design-lovers, object-hoarders, print-admirers and for anyone who obsesses over even the tiniest of interior objects". Go take a look at all the fabulous things they've found!

And last week, a feature on Sketchbook Magazine, with my Olympic Canines.
Sketchbook Magazine is an "Online Guide To Design and Illustration.
Much appreciated for a mention with them : )

Always nice to get mentions, and even nicer when it's from such good places too.

Have a grand Monday.

Olympic Pug Wins Gold

Enjoying the Olympics?
This fella's gone and won himself a gold : )
He could look a bit happier, but really he's dead chuffed inside!

My Supermarket Sarah Wall

Today my Supermarket Sarah wall goes live.
You will find prints, brooches, embroidery, and ornaments, all made by my fair hands ; )

If you're a fan of pugs, chihuahuas, dachshunds in Pucci head scarves, cats and florals, colour and pattern then you might just like what I do!

So pass it on,  have a browse and maybe think of doing one yourself!

Mascot Studio's 13th Annual Dog Show!

So it looks like I will have some work showing at Mascot Studio's 13th Annual Dog Show.
How lovely.
Anne Watkins, another artist featured in Martha Stewarts Holiday Gift Guide gave me the heads up to contact Peter the owner of Mascot Studios and after a few e-mails it looks like I will be part of the show!
Very excited, just wish I could head back to New York, I love New York.
Maybe later in the year.

It looks like there may be a few embroidery's being shown.
Possibilities below : )
Thanks Martha, thanks Anne, thanks Peter.

Show The Pug Some Love!

Happy Valentines Day one and all.
Hope you have had a grand day, whether appreciated by another or not!
So just a quick post to say hello.
Now this pug really needs some love.
Not even vintage Moschino will cheer this dude up!
So show some love.

What say's 'Love' more than these two? Probably a lot of things!

Depeche Mode - The Meaning Of Love

Quickening the pace.

So this mornings thoughts regarding lesson planning started well, but ended very quickly!
I just wanted to draw and I thought why deny myself the pleasure.
I can plan tomorrow right?
So I began drawing, in a similar way to yestaerday, part blind drawing, part observational.
I'm liking the freedom this gives me.
Slightly wonky, not quite right images, means character and expression, both good.
Below are the original sketches and I will now go on to add colour.
I think I might paint, haven't used paint in a long time!

Results to follow.

Loosening up!

So tonight I set myself a task, quick drawings.
Some blind drawings, where I did not look at the page at all, others a bit of looking and not looking.
These are the results.
(colour added after drawing has been completed!)
It's nice not to be precious and see what happens.
I need to do more of this, with my drawing and just life in general.
I will start as of now.

New Cards on Etsy

Grump No 1, Grump No 2 and Pug in Pucci have now made it into card and postcard form.
Soon there will be a Pug Pack, thanks to an idea by my lovely friend Miss Loder!
Cheers you.
Got to get cracking on two commissions tomorrow so might call it a day now and get up early!
Good night all, sweet dreams.

Boris The Boston now on Etsy

Just added Boris to my Etsy shop.
Dwight will soon follow too.
Boris has been added as he is soon to be on Art Hound's website under the art for sale banner.
Great, cheap advertising on a lovely site, run by a lovely lady!
Thanks Kate for the opportunity to be on your site for the next 6 weeks.
I'm very happy.

Drawing, collaging.

Just a few things I've been up to over the past day.
More to come, but for now, I'm off to have a glass of wine and watch a film.
Hope you have a great Saturday night.
Ciao. x

Today's offerings!

Not been that productive today.
Met up with an old friend, had coffee in a crazy garden centre, chatted lots and had a lovely time!
Thanks for making the trip Lara and for liking the same tat as me!!

I've managed to do a few drawings.
Here are they.
Like the first, think the second one is pretty bad, still, some days you just ain't got it!!

Xmas is coming!

So today I started to draw some Christmas inspired mutts.
These are the 2 that have come to life so far.
Bad jumpers and knitted wears are going to be the focal point.
It is also necessary to look grumpy always!!

Wrap up warm folks it's getting cold out there.

At last I have an Etsy shop!!!

So over the weekend I got my act together and eventually got an Etsy shop up and running.
You will find cards and custom embroidered dog portraits there at the minute.
I intend to include my brooches and illustrations as well as other items.
Glad I have got round to it, feels good to have something on line and really it was pretty simple to do. What the heck took me so long?!!

Anyway you can find it here at
www.etsy.com/shop/StudioLegohead.

Dwight ditches Dali!

Started another embroidery yesterday.
It was from my drawing Dwight Does Dali.
I became aware of Dali's works with jewelry form the exhibition 'Surreal Things' at the V&A a few years back.
I especially loved Elsa Schiaparelli's contribution to the show, check her out!

Anyway this pug has been put in a garish jumper, when he would much rather have been wearing a brooche!
Thinking of adding some text to the pieces and reckon they will be all wearing some kind of accessory.

Cushions, pugs and euro beats

This morning I've been working on some cushion ideas.
I'm not great at Illustrator but plodding on.
Whilst working I have been listening to some Euro synth.
(is that even a musical genre?!!)
I quite like working to mental music.

Slagsmalskubben - Sponsored by Destiny.
Max Tundra - The Entertainment.

Painting after so many years.

Well today I thought I'd dig out my paints.
They haven't seen light of day for so long.
I was surprised to find them not completely dried up.
Below is the results.
I've tried to not be precious.
Quite liked it, nice to use a coloured ground for a change.

Who doesn't love Alan Bennett?!
Her Big Chance Part 1 - starring Julie Walters.
More drama! Bonnie Tyler - Total Eclipse Of The Heart.
Some bad acting - Cyndi Lauper - Time After Time.

Pug In A Pucci Print

I like the idea of dogs in hats and jewelery.
I'm going to continue down this route for a while.
The possibilities for pattern, colour and humour is very appealing.
So today a pug in a Pucci print is what has occurred.
Not so much glamorous as old woman chic!!

Horribly scary, not sure I'd want Dr. Beat anywhere near me!
Gloria Estefan - Dr. Beat
David Bowie - Fashion.
